THE dress is ordered!
Checking off the To-Do list
Being that Andy and I are photo junkies we were very picky with who we went with for our photographer. After spending MANY hours online looking at hundreds of photographer's websites we narrowed our favorites down to about 4. We met with a photographer/videographer but didn't think our personalities meshed quite as well as we would have liked. So next was a photographer that many of my college and high school friends had used, I loved the style of this photographer but after meeting with them and seeing the price sheet, I think we were a little out of our league. Meanwhile, we kept on hearing the name Mary Sandy. Andy's co-worker recommended her to us and then turns out that our DJ has done numerous weddings with her as well so we thought we'd at least give her a shot. After meeting with her we knew she was exactly what we were looking for. She's an amazing photographer that takes such pride in her work, she pays close attention to detail, and has a great personality that we're sure will produce great engagement and wedding photos.
Our DJ is Chad with All American DJ. He is someone that my mom and I met at the Bridal Expo and scheduled an appointment for Andy and I to meet with him. We got a very good first impression and liked Chad's dedication and positive, fun, lively attitude. He's very detail-oriented and loves what he does and we thought he would be a great Master of Ceremonies!
Scott Swanson is who we went with as our officiant. Andy and I knew we didn't want a religious ceremony but we still wanted it to have substance and meaning and after meeting with Scott for the first time we knew he was a perfect match. He has a great plan for the ceremony that incorporates areas that are important to us and will be unique just for us.
We are very happy with all our vendors and think they will make our day that much more special. Next on our list...colors, engagement pics, and save the dates! Can't believe it's less than 10 months away!!! Wooohoooo! :)

Save the Date!

I'm so excited to have such a big task completed and I think it fits Andy and I perfectly. My grandparents live in Pebblecreek and suggested the location to Andy and I. If you have ever met Andy you know that he loves to golf, so getting married on a golf course was just a given. I love the golf course setting as well, plus the fountains and water are gorgeous.
Next on the agenda of wedding planning...invitations, photography, videography, officiant, DJ, flowers...EVERYTHING ELSE! Please send any recommendations!

The Beginning!
Hello Friends and Family,
As most of you already know Andy and I got engaged last month while spending the weekend in Reno, NV. Andy and I flew out to Reno with my Mom (Margie), Dad (Manuel), and younger sister Kelsey for my grandma’s 75th surprise birthday party. This was big for Andy and I since it would be the first time he’d be introduced to my energetic 4’11” Portuguese Granny, not to mention all of my dad’s side of the family! We spent Friday night eating dinner at Dolce (Ashton Kutcher’s restaurant) and then playing roulette at the Grand Sierra casino in Reno. Then Saturday tried to dodge Grandma as much as possible so we didn’t ruin the surprise. Saturday Andy and my dad spent every second up to Grandma’s arrival BBQ’ing for the party. (This was also when Andy re-asked my Dad for his permission to marry me.) The party was a huge hit and by the end of the night my Grandma did not only “love Andy” she was “in love with him”! She falls fast…must be a Portuguese thing! :) And then Sunday comes…
Prior to going to the trip I had asked my parents if we could make it over to Tahoe to show Andy since this was his first time to the Reno/Tahoe area (and the closest thing to the “woods” he’s going to get on the west coast). Meanwhile, Andy had already called my Mom before the trip to plan out how and where he was going to “pop the question”. He had heard that Tahoe was very pretty and thought it would be the perfect place…man was he right! We all woke up on Sunday morning, piled into our rental car and went for a drive around Tahoe lake. We made our first stop at Sugar Pine Pointe which was a national park with a beach. Stopped and had a drink and took in the view for awhile then hopped back in the car and kept driving. The next place we come up to is Emerald Bay! I’m thinking WOW, this place is BEAUTIFUL! Andy on the other hand is nervous as all get out (of course I’m completely oblivious!). We go to the lookout area over this gorgeous lake and being the picture nazi and hopeless romantic, I insist that we all take plenty of pictures not knowing what’s going to take place in the next 2 minutes. Andy grabs me and has me follow him down some boulders on the side of the lookout area to this area where there aren’t any people. I walk up behind him and give him a hug, tell him I love him and THEN… he says “I love you will you marry me?” (Yes, all one sentence!) We had talked about getting married before and we both would semi-seriously ask each other when joking around and when talking about it, I’d say yes of course, but this time was different. After he asked I looked down at his hand and there was a GORGEOUS diamond ring! Then everything processed and all I could say was “Oh my gosh you’re serious!” (crying starts here) “YES of course! YES!” We just stood there for a minute crying and hugging…then realized that my parents were waiting for us up at the lookout area! To my surprise, EVERYONE knew but me! DUH! :) It’s all so obvious what was going on now! We then went back to the lookout to re-take pictures, then headed to Gar Woods restaurant on the lake for a celebratory drink and lunch! Needless to say, I had a permanent smile on my face for the rest of the day (I actually can’t help but smile typing this!).
Andy and I couldn’t be happier starting our lives together and shortly after our Reno trip we went back to Andy’s stomping grounds, Springfield, Ohio! A trip filled with spending as much time as possible with Ms.Kayleigh Crall (Andy’s daughter), Andy’s family, attending our first Ohio State Buckeyes Game (O-H-I-O) and just enjoying ourselves with friends and family. I have attached a slideshow from our trip to Reno and Ohio…doesn’t do the trips justice but it’s better than nothing!
I hope you all enjoy the pictures. Thank you to those of you that have helped us celebrate over the past month and can’t wait to see the rest of you. Be sure to keep October 2009 open…details to follow.
